MPA candidates Keith Pelkey and Jessica DePasquale represented SUNY Buffalo State's MPA program in the 2018 NASPAA Batten Simulation competition at Cornell University on March 3, 2018. The topic was “Pandemic Crisis Management and Global Health Security.” The simulation revolved around a fictious pandemic, where students identified solutions and potential strategies to mitigate the potential devastating impacts. The global competition included 536 students, from 27 countries, and 159 universities, comprising 117 student teams. There were 16 competition host sites on 5 continents, 20 regional winning teams. The judges will select one global team as the winner.
Buffalo State MPA candidate Jessica DePasquale was a member of one of the two regional winning teams from the Cornell University site. This means her team will advance to the global competition where a video of their presentation, along with their Policy Memo, will be evaluated by a panel of judges.
